The last few years Greece is a path for hundreds of thousands war-conflict victims from Syria, a large number from Afghanistan, and lower from Asia and Africa, who started as refugees in order to travel to Central and Northern Europe countries. Currently, thousands of refugees are within the Greek territory, the majority of them stays in camps, sometimes even without access to basic infrastructure or facilities. Based on the estimates of National Centre for Social Solidarity and UNHCR, about 2000 unaccompanied minors are currently among the general refugee population.

Official release of the Handbook to promote the implementation of article 12 in the juvenile justice system

The final seminar of the TWELVE project took place yesterday, Thursday 17th of March 2015, in Brussels. Professionals and officials working with and for children in conflict with the law, institutional actors, academics, and NGO stakeholders from different European countries participated in a Round Table aimed at sharing experiences, models and perspectives on the right to participation in the juvenile justice system.

Τwo-day workshop “You are not alone! Action for the protection of unaccompanied minors”

ARSIS – Association for the Social Support of Youth, with the funding of EEA Grants, via the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (U.D.I.) that manages the funds, implements the project “You are not alone! Action for the protection of unaccompanied minors”.

The aim of this project is the creation of a methodology manual for the shelters of unaccompanied minors, which, up to this moment is unavailable, hindering the work of organizations that dispose hosting structures.

After having completed the preparatory work, ARSIS organizes, on 24 and 25 November, in Thessaloniki, a two-day consultation workshop, which will be attended experienced members of the relevant departments of the Ministry of Labour, a representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, representatives of organizations Norwegian People’s aid and Hero Norge and representatives of the shelters of unaccompanied minors asylum seekers operating in Greece.
