The Expected Beginning

I really wanted to live this experience, I was very impatient to get here.

On the way home from the airport, Thessaloniki seemed a bit sad and cold to me. When I arrived at my new home my colleagues welcomed me with open arms.

The next day I realized how warm and beautiful the city is, I felt the great desire to know each place and each person. I loved the good weather here, always sunny. My favourite place in the city without a doubt is Anopoli, the upper part of the city. I fell in love with those narrow streets full of graffiti where cats always accompany you. The truth is that I adapted quickly and without a problem, during this time I have met wonderful people with whom I feel very wrapped up.

Discovering Thessaloniki

The first month is done and a lot of feelings come to my mind. I remember when I came to Thessaloniki and I hardly knew something about the city. It was an old city and sometimes dirty but there are a lot of beautiful streets and places to walk around or just to stay. You also have to take advantage of the fact that Thessaloniki is a huge city and has a lot of things to do and places to visit. For example, it is a university city so there are a lot of people of my age in the streets on weekends and of course, the university area is also cheaper so I have to visit it more often.

DESERT ROSE
“I dream of rain, I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in vain, I dream of love as time runs through my hands”

Every time I look at this photo, in my head sounds this song: “Desert Rose” by Sting.

WELCOME TO THESSA!

The feelings before a departure are the ones I like the most. I have already felt them a lot of time in my life, but everytime there is something different… Different places to see, different people to meet! What is always the same is my enthusiasm and my positive attitude, the same I had arriving here in Greece, ready to take on new challenges.

The first days in Thessaloniki has been a mixture of waiting and exploring: waiting for the covid test`s result and exploring this amazing and historical city. The see, the upper town, the city centre, shops, bars, pubs and restaurant full of people, coming from everywhere in the world. Thessaloniki is going to be a good place where to spend my next 8 months, I am already sure of this!
